I often get asked where I get ideas from for our home.  “Where did you find that?” or “What made you think to do that?”  I’ll be honest, I had never really thought about it before?  Where do I get ideas from?  I make no secret of the fact that I love swooning over other people’s home photos on Instagram (@rvk_loves  I’m looking at you!) and I love home blogs in equal measure.   I have long been a fan of Rock My Style even before I wrote pieces for them.  There is so much inspiration out there; we are so lucky to live in an age where it is quite literally in front of us on a screen at the click of a button.  For me though, the internet was the obvious answer to this question; but when I really thought about it, there were so many other places I use to inspire me.  To list just a few……

By this I mean; running out of sh*t to do in this house.  I feel like I have painted (and re-painted) almost everything in the house.  I have cushions for my cushions to sit on.  I am forever doing the “little things” that are just slowly starting to irritate me.  I mean; is it possible to actually run out of stuff to do? (Please, don’t answer that)

Many of you who follow me on Instagram will know that the last few weekends have been dedicated to a garden clean up. It wasn’t that it was specifically bad, I just wasn’t feeling it. I’ve found the more time I’ve spent at home since not returning to work; the more time I have to let stuff that wouldn’t ordinarily bother me, bother me. Once I notice something, or it gets under my skin, that’s it; there’s no hope for it. This is a habit that gets increasingly boring for my husband, of that I’m sure!

I have been talking about decorating our sitting room since we moved in (Yes, I know that was over two years ago!), but I hadn’t quite got around to it yet.  We decorated (I say “we”, I definitely mean my husband) our bedroom before Christmas and used Farrow & Ball’s “Wevet”.  It instantly changed the light and feel in the room, so I knew it was the right shade for the sitting room too.  I can never quite get over how dark some parts of this house are; it’s facing the wrong way and I just think some Victorian houses have a tendency to feel a bit dingy sometimes.  With that in mind, I was sold on Wevet.
